Phellodendron Amurense

Phellodendron Bark is one of the three herbs used in the classical formula "San Huang San", meaning "Three Yellow Powder", the other 2 being Huang Qin and Da Huang.

Huang Bai is bitter in flavor and cold in energy and is classified as an herb that Clears Heat and Dries Dampness. It is applied externally for toxic fire and for damp heat, among other things. Huang Bai operates on the Kidney, Urinary Bladder, and Large Intestine meridians.
